CGM monitoring
CGM technologies
Configuring a powerful glucose monitoring platform
Why CGM?
Diabetes, a chronic condition affecting glucose regulation, requires vigilant monitoring to prevent complications. Traditional fingerstick methods, while effective, are limited in scope and frequency. CGMs represent a leap forward by continuously tracking glucose levels and delivering data in real time. This allows individuals to make immediate and informed adjustments to lifestyle and treatment.
CGM technologies have revolutionized diabetes management, making real-time glucose tracking accessible, actionable, and increasingly affordable. The rise of OTC models enables a broader audience, including those with prediabetes or lifestyle concerns, to engage in proactive, data-driven health management. As adoption grows, CGMs are poised to become a mainstream tool in both chronic care and preventive wellness.
How CGM works?
CGMs use a small sensor inserted under the skin to measure interstitial glucose levels. Data is transmitted to a smartphone or reader device every few minutes, providing:
- Trend visualization
- High/low glucose alerts
Real-time insights into food, activity, and stress effects
Advantages of CGM Technology
1. Real-Time Monitoring:Â Users can view how daily behaviors impact glucose levels, which supports immediate corrective actions such as walking after meals or modifying food choices.
2. Reduced Hypo and Hyperglycemic Events: Alarms and trend data help prevent dangerously low or high glucose levels, reducing emergency incidents.
3. Improved HbA1c and Time-in-Range: Studies show CGM users spend significantly more time within their target glucose range and achieve better A1c levels.
4. Data Sharing with Care Teams:Â Data can be shared with clinicians or caregivers, enhancing collaborative and personalized care plans.
