When I received the alarming news of an 8.2 A1C, it was a wake up call I couldn’t ignore. I did not want to move forward with more meds and decided to give a new try at lifestyle transformation. The Diabetes Genes

Growing up in a family with a history of diabetes, I always knew that I might one day become diabetic myself. But like many people, I didn’t take it seriously. In my younger days, I lived a sedentary lifestyle, busy with work, and thoroughly enjoyed my hearty meals—rich in carbs and flavor, but unfortunately not friendly to blood sugar levels.

Prediabetes: The Wake-Up Call I Ignored

Years ago, I was diagnosed with prediabetes. I went through diabetes education programs, where I learned about blood sugar regulation, the importance of diet and exercise, and the complications of untreated diabetes. I understood the facts. I knew the risks. But real life, my career and family responsibilities took priority, and I continued down an unhealthy path.

Eventually, the diagnosis became official: I had type 2 diabetes. Like many, I quickly started on medications, an easy way out at the time. But I was treating the symptoms, not the root cause. Over time, my dosage increased, and so did my frustration. I knew I wasn’t getting better, I was just slowing down the decline.

The Emotional Toll: When Life and Health Collide

The final blow came during a particularly stressful period, my father’s final phase of life and his eventual passing. The emotional stress drove my A1C levels to a new high. This was the moment I realized something had to change – radically and sustainably.

The Outcome: Control, Clarity, and a New Mission

The results were incredible. I regained control over my blood glucose levels and began improving my insulin sensitivity. More importantly, I finally understood my body, how it reacts, what it needs, and how I can support it naturally. My average glucose levels fell from 160 to under 130, resulting in the A1C levels dropping from 8.2 to 6.6, with no additional meds.

My journey isn’t over, I now see the possibility of reversing type 2 diabetes through lifestyle changes, data-driven decisions, and consistent effort. I no longer view medication as the only answer, but as a temporary support system while I work to build a healthier foundation.
