RECHARGE Daily Diabetes Checklist - A wholistic approach to diabetes management.

GOAL: Use each of the 8 levers of the RECHARGE framework to experiment and achieve optimal blood glucose levels

How to use:
– Perform a quick review of tasks during the day.
– Observe your blood glucose levels, see what is working and what is causing blood glucose spikes.
– Adjust each of the RECHARGE levers till you get to your target glucose level goal.

Morning

 R Regulate Glucose Check fasting blood glucose (recommend using CGM).
 E Eat Healthy Eat a low GI, balanced breakfast with measured carbs.
 C Calm Stress Meditate or take deep breaths to start the day calmly.
 H Hydrate More Drink 1–2 glasses of water to rehydrate after sleep.
 A Active Life Review yesterday’s activity. Set goals for today.
 R Rest Adequately Review sleep quality: hours, restfulness, interruptions.
 G Gauge Weight Weigh yourself and log if part of your plan.
 E Ensure Meds Take your morning medications as prescribed.
Midday to Afternoon
 R Regulate Glucose Check glucose before lunch or mid-afternoon.
 E Eat Healthy Have a low GI, balanced lunch and monitor portions.
 C Calm Stress Take 5 minutes to breathe, stretch, or walk mindfully.
 H Hydrate More Drink water (aim for 4–6 glasses by now).
 A Active Life Engage in light activity – walk, stretch, move purposefully.
 R Rest Adequately No action.
 G Gauge Weight No action.
 E Ensure Meds Take midday medications if prescribed.
Evening to Night
 R Regulate Glucose Check glucose after dinner or before bed.
 E Eat Healthy Have a light, balanced dinner with portion control.
 C Calm Stress Unwind with reading, music, or calming breathing.
 H Hydrate More Finish remaining water (target 8 glasses/day).
 A Active Life Walk after dinner or light evening movement.
 R Rest Adequately Wind down. Aim for 7–9 hours of restful sleep.
 R Gauge Weight No action.
 E Ensure Meds Take your evening medications as prescribed.

RECHARGE Monthly, Quarterly & Annual Diabetes Care Checklist

✅ Monthly Diabetes Care Checklist
  • Review your weight, blood pressure, and symptoms
  • Refill prescriptions or supplies (test strips, lancets, insulin, etc.)
  • Clean and calibrate glucose meter or CGM
  • Check expiration dates of meds and insulin
  • Reflect on any challenges or changes in routine

  • A1c test (every 3 months or as advised)
  • Meet with your diabetes educator or care team
  • Review and adjust care plan or medication if needed
✅ Annual Diabetes Care Checklist
  • Complete a full physical exam
  • Eye exam (dilated retinal exam)
  • Dental check-up
  • Comprehensive foot exam by a healthcare provider
  • Lipid panel (cholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglycerides)
  • Kidney function tests (urine albumin, serum creatinine)
  • Flu shot and any recommended vaccines (e.g., pneumonia, COVID, Hep B)
